Undergraduate and Graduate Advising
IMPORTANCE OF ADVISING
Advising is an important element of faculty and student interaction that leads to a timely and focused program of study. It is a joint responsibility. Students are obligated to file their master plans before they plan to choose any elective courses. Current Faculty Advisors are determined by the first letters of the student 's last name by the Department Office, Room E 424.
All course prerequisites are strictly enforced. Civil Engineering students MUST explore at least four out of the six specialty areas offered by the Department. Those areas are: Construction, Environmental, Geotechnical, Structural, Transportation, and Water Resources.
Advising is also important at the graduate program. Early determination of the topic of the MS Thesis or Project are critically important for a timely and successful completion of the program.
